Incredibly fun, interesting, and enlightening analysis! Something about you starting making discoveries in your parents albums feels like Alice too - through the gatefold if you will.

Thank you Alan. I hadn’t thought about that, but in retrospect that’s so true. It definitely felt like a portal of sorts!!! From leafy Islington home, lying on the carpet, to magical multicolour world in the brain.

I wonder whether the Beatles’ interest in pastoral fantasies at this time was also reflected in their plans to buy a Greek island that summer. (And John bought Dorinish island in March 1967…)

Thanks Jonathan. I need to dig into your blog this weekend. Amazing stuff. So this island: https://www.dorinish.com/? I do remember reading that part of the reason for the property / island buying was from an investment POV as well as liking the idea of it. But you know a million times more about this. I can totally see how the need to escape the madness and find sanctuary also showed up in the island plans. Really appreciate you stopping by.

Yes, that’s the one John bought, and at one point he wanted to build a house there. And yes, around this time their financial advisers were recommending they invest in assets. But from the Beatles’ point of view, they were also just fun things to do. It seems that it was a similar situation with their various Apple projects.

Thanks - let me know your thoughts if you get a chance to read!
